DAUGHTER is a 501c3 committed to wellness with an emphasis on Black women and girls.
Founded by Ebonee Davis, DAUGHTER seeks to put healing back into the hands of those from whom these modalities originate. Ebonee is a certified reiki practitioner, sound healer, pant medicine facilitator and ceremonialist.
In addition to curating retreats and wellness experiences, DAUGHTER provides sponsorships for scholars who seek to expand their narrative and reconnect with their roots. The Home Going experience hones in our "Birth Right" philosophy, which is the birth given privilege to have access to our ancestry.
When Ebonee decided to head to Ghana in late 2018, she could not have guessed how much it would change her.
“As a black person living in America, I’ve often felt disconnected from a sense of identity, or I’ve felt like I’ve had to take on an identity that was given to me,” she says. “Our culture prior to slavery was unknown to me; it was erased. I wanted to go back to the motherland, so I could begin to put the pieces together and discover for myself.”
Now back in Los Angeles, Davis has become mother and founder of DAUGHTER, sponsoring travel for scholars of the African diaspora who wish to expand their narrative. “More than anything, I want to be a catalyst for healing, and I think these images are a start,” says Davis. — VOGUE
